Abridged version of the Tourism BEE Charter
IntroductionThe Tourism BEE Charter was set up in response to legislation that calls for transformation charters to be developed by all sectors of the South African economy. The Charter was developed using a wide consultation process that was led by a steering committee made up of members who represent a diverse range of stakeholders in the Tourism Sector. Key objectivesThe key objective of the Tourism BEE Charter is to transform the Tourism Sector by empowering more South Africans in order to make the Sector more accessible, more relevant and more beneficial to all South Africans. The Charter provides the framework and principles for the implementation of BEE in the Tourism Sector and represents a partnership programme for transformation processes. The Charter establishes targets and responsibilities and outlines processes for BEE implementation. The ScorecardThe Scorecard is a measurement tool to help participants in the tourism industry identify their current levels of BEE, gaps in the their profile and how profiles can be improved.
